The WR Community Energy team spoke to the Waterloo Region Record about our work exploring Green Development Standards, a municipal tool for building better buildings in Waterloo Region.
As of June 3, 2022 WR Community Energy has closed our RFP seeking proposals from qualified and experienced consultants to lead the first phase of the design of Green Development Standards (GDS) for Waterloo Region. We expect to make a decision on the successful proponent by end of June 2022 and for a final report to be delivered in late fall 2022.
Sustainable Waterloo Region recognized the Clean Economy Cluster Map as the Best Partnership for 2021 at it’s recent Annual Evening of Recognition. WR Community Energy was honoured to receive this award alongside partners Sustainable Waterloo Region, the Region of Waterloo and WaterlooEDC.

WR Community Energy, in partnership with Sustainable Waterloo Region, the Region of Waterloo and WaterlooEDC have launched a map of Waterloo Region’s Clean Economy Ecosystem featuring over 125 companies, research labs and community groups contributing to the clean economy in our community and beyond.
On April 1, 2022, WR Community Energy presented a panel at the AMO Municipal Energy Symposium. Using examples from WR Community Energy’s work to date, the panel explored the viability and value of municipal collaboration with utilities and community groups.
On March 23, 2022 WR Community Energy, Sustainable Waterloo Region, the Region of Waterloo and Waterloo EDC hosted a launch event for the Clean Economy Cluster Map.
On February 18, 2022 WR Community Energy spoke at the Southern Ontario Growth Conference on the topic of Green Development Standards.
